Sturbridge Coffee Roasters recognizes the importance of being in the community. In addition to supporting local community events, we also we donate a percentage of our net profits to local charities.Please check out these great organizations in our local community and join us in recognizing the difference they are making in our community.

Summer 2019: 

STURBRIDGE FARMERS MARKET

SCR participated as a vendor at this annual farmer's market on the Sturbridge Town Common.

June 2019: 

HARRINGTON HEROS GALA

SCR provided coffee refreshments at Harrington Heros Gala at Mechanics Hall, a fundraising event for the Cancer Center at Harrington.

May 2019: 

HARRINGTON AT HUBBARD HOSPITAL 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

SCR provided coffee refreshments during Hubbard's 10 year anniversary and family fun day.

April 2019: 

PAW PLAZA OPEN HOUSE

SCR provided coffee refreshments welcoming Paw Plaza to Sturbridge.

SCR participated in Nichols College's annual Empowering Women in Business Conference.

NICHOLS COLLEGE PRESIDENT'S ACCEPTED STUDENT RECEPTION & OPEN HOUSE

SCR was pleased to be a part of welcoming accepted students and open house weekends to Nichols College for a breakfast reception. SCR owner, Elvis Dyer,is a graduate of Nichols College

CHARLTON REAS FOUNDATION

SCR supported the annual "Taste of the Towns" hosted by the  Charlton REAS Foundation 

(Residential Energy Assistance for Seniors). REAS is committed to doing everything possible

to assist qualifying seniors with their energy costs via grants paid directly to their utility providers,

heating and cooling contractors and vendors, and other direct providers of heating and

cooling products and services. 

2018

December 2018:

Holiday Visions

SCR provided free coffee at the annual Tree Lighting and visits from Santa.

Customers were also able to "meet and greet" with Santa during two Saturdays in our stores.

October 2018:

"THINK PINK" - For every pound of coffee purchased, Sturbridge  Coffee Roasters donated $1

to The Cancer Center at Harrington. At both locations - Southbridge & Dudley!

Thanks to our customers, and their purchases of pounds of coffee,we donated $350 this year. Thank you!

NICHOLS COLLEGE

SCR supported Nichols College homecoming weekend, supplying free coffee to guest during an

outside reception. Nichols College is a four-year private, not-for-profit, coeducational institution

offering associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees as well as certificate programs.

SCR ROAST TO SPD OFFICER REDDICK

For every specially labeled "SCR Roast to SPD Officer Reddick, 

Sturbridge Coffee Roasters donated $1 to the Southbridge Police  Department to support

Officer Rich Reddick during his cancer battle.

Thanks to our customers, and their purchases, we were able to donate $325!

THE LAST GREEN VALLEY

SCR supported T"he Taste of the Valley," a fundraising event for the Last Green Valley,

a non-profit stewardship organization working for 35-town National Heritage Corridor in

eastern Connecticut and south-central Massachusetts/

FRIENDS OF THE JACOB EDWARDS LIBRARY

Jacob Edwards Library is located at 236 Main Street in Southbridge. The Friends of the Jacob Edwards Library is the fundraising arm of the Library that raises money for items such as library programs, books, furniture, subscriptions, museum pass memberships and other materials as needed.

Gateway Players, started in 1975 when a group of interested community members decided that Southbridge needed a theater group to bring live productions to the area, is an all-volunteer community theater providing quality live theatre performances and workshops. Gateway offers a full season of productions performed mainly in the Barn, located at 111 Main Street in Southbridge, as well as workshops for youths and adults.

RELAY FOR LIFE OF GREATER SOUTHBRIDGE

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the world's largest and most impactful fundraising

event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled

cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all.

We are pleased to offer our support to the local Relay, taking place in Southbridge June 17-18 via the Drama Dearies team.

 

April 2016:

OPTICAL HERITAGE MUSEUM

Located in Southbridge, MA, the Optical Heritage Museum is dedicated to the preservation, education and research in the history, growth, culture and contributions of the optical industries from the 19th Century to the present. Established in 1983, the Optical Heritage Museum has one of the largest collections of spectacle frames and ophthalmic optical items in the world.

 

March 2016:

NICK PERRY MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

Nick’s House is a 5-bedroom single family home in Southbridge, MA that temporarily houses veterans who are transitioning back to civilian life. Terry and Pam Parker started this non-profit organization in 2012. Their goal – helping the community one soldier at a time. Visit http://www.nickperryshouse.org/ for more info.

SOUTHBRIDGE RECREATION DEPARTMENT

The mission of the Southbridge Recreation Department is to provide high quality, affordable recreation programs as well as maintain safe and accessible fields and facilities throughout the Southbridge community.

Gateway Players, started in 1975 when a group of interested community members decided that Southbridge needed a theater group to bring live productions to the area, is an all-volunteer community theater providing quality live theatre performances and workshops. Gateway offers a full season of productions performed mainly in the Barn, located at 111 Main Street in Southbridge, as well as workshops for youths and adults.

 

November 2015:

SOUTHBRIDGE FOOD SHARE, INC.

Located at 79 Elm Street, the Southbridge Food Share serves as an emergency food pantry to individuals and families in need in the area. In addition, they host a yearly thanksgiving meal, made possible through community donations. Distribution occurs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10AM-11:15AM, although it is recommended that those needing assistance call ahead (508-764-6583) to confirm availability. Individuals interested in donating food or monetary donations, please contact them directly.

 

October 2015:

THE CANCER CENTER AT HARRINGTON

During October, we ran a "Think Pink" campaign to generate awareness for breast cancer. For each whole pound of coffee sold, we donated $1 to the cancer center, and offered customers $1 off their November purchase of coffee beans as a thanks. We all know someone who has been impacted by breast cancer and the Cancer Center at Harrington, jointly operated by the not-for-profit Harrington Hospital and the for-profit corporation 21st Century Oncology, provides total local care to fighters and survivors in our community.

 

September 2015:

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF WEBSTER-DUDLEY

The goal of this program is to offer a variety of recreational, educational, and cultural activities for members as well as to provide experiences which give opportunities for choice, individual achievement, development of self-confidence and fun. The Club mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring adults.

 

August 2015:

CROHN'S & COLITIS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA (CCFA)

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis. CCFA serves more than 300,000 patients annually through 40 chapters as well as through national education and support programs. CCFA is not a government-supported agency; they rely on the support of members and donors to continue their work.

 

July 2015:

NICHOLS COLLEGE FUND

In May 2015, Elvis walked across the Nichols stage, almost 30 years after first stepping foot on campus, to receive his bachelors in business administration. It only seems fitting to make his first alumni gift as owner of SCR. Each year, the Nichols Fund raises unrestricted dollars to support the College's greatest and most immediate needs, such as scholarships, faculty and academic initiatives, student life and campus enhancements. These donations ensure the College continues to offer a dynamic career-oriented business education in a nurturing environment.

 

June 2015:

PAN-MASS CHALLENGE

Each year the Pan-Mass Challenge brings together 5,500 cyclists from 36 states and 8 countries to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers the necessary resources to discover cures for all types of cancer. This annual ride, taking place August 1-2, passes through our neighboring towns of Sturbridge, Charlton and Oxford. This year, we are pleased to support our friend, and PMC rider Craig Doyle, who is riding in memory of his mother. For additional information, or to visit Craig's fundraising page, click here.

SOUTHBRIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT COPS & KIDS PROGRAM

The Cops & Kids program is designed to not only give the youth of the Southbridge community some after school activities, but it is also designed to familiarize the students with the police. Two of the most active programs are the after school basketball league which has junior high students participating with police officers acting as coaches and referees. Another activity with large participation is the Cops & Kids dances. These dances are offered once a month for students students attending with officers acting as chaperones.

 

February 2015:

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION, CENTRAL MA HEART WALK

We are pleased to support the 2015 Central MA Heart Walk which will take place on May 2, 2015, supporting Catherine's Team Grizz's. The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.4 killers, claim more than 813,804 American lives a year. It is the walkers, donors and volunteers who help fight heart disease and stroke.

The Cancer Center at Harrington is a free-standing $14 million cancer treatment center providing world-class care on the edge of the main Harrington Hospital campus in Southbridge, MA. The Cancer Center at Harrington offers infusion/chemotherapy services as well as counseling services, including an on-site social worker, to help patients and their families with the psycho-social issues related to cancer.
